You can only have so many sequels before you essentially make a parody out of yourself. This is why the RE franchise has gone through so many revamps over the years. They defined the horror franchise genre with the original RE game for the PSX but, once that formula had become old and stale, they reinvented themselves with RE:4. Ironically, even though RE:4 redefined the horror franchise genre, going as far as having it’s formula emulated by such games as Dead Space, that very formula that helped redefine it as a franchise is what some people say caused it to lose a major
part of it’s identity. Y’know, they kinda forgot the horror part of survivor horror.
Since RE4 , we’ve seen the series focus more and more on action and QTE , than anything else. This isn’t to say the games weren’t somewhat fun, but Resident Evil minus the horror is like McDonald’s without burgers or sandwiches (sorry vegans)(except, not) (meat, yum). Sure, they have a lot of other stuff that you might like, but when you get down to it, you’re really going there for their burgers and maybe some fries but mostly their burgers–oh, and maybe a 12 piece nugget and a shake. I’m getting off point. The point is: a huge part of what makes Resident Evil,Resident Evil has been missing from it’s last few entries in the series .
Resident EVII (I feel bad for Japan for missing out on this cool and confusing spelling) looks to return the franchise back to it’s survivor horror roots judging by it’s announcement trailer. Whereas the other trailers for the previous two Resident Evil games have focused more on the action aspects of the game, this trailer was obviously meant to focus on horror by creating an atmosphere of of tension and fear. Taking place in a rundown mansion (A throw back to the original Resident Evil) the game takes you down dimly lit, cramped, dilapidated hallways as images of decaying corpses flash across the screen.
Perhaps the most shocking thing is that it all takes place in the first person perspective. I think it’s too early to call Resident EvII an FPS especially since at no point during the trailer do you see yourself shooting a gun. It would be interesting, however, if Capcom had been taking notes from PT and modeled some of the game play after it. It would certainly build tension if, through most of REVII, you were without a gun and had to use items in your surroundings as weapons.
I am almost certain that entire article is gibberish.
A newspaper that can be seen briefly in the trailer offers more clues to the game content as the headline reads “Ghost Sighted in Bayou” this could suggest the introduction of supernatural elements to the RE franchise (they’ve tried in the past *cough* Devil May Cry *cough*). The paper may also hint that the game takes place in Louisiana. Everything on the paper is blurred out except for the headline – you can kind of make out the name of the paper which could read “The Dulac Daily”. Dulac is a small city in Louisiana that I totally didn’t look up on google for the sake of this article. The game could take place in Dulac or it may serve as inspiration for the location of REVII.
It’ll be interesting to see where the franchise goes and how it plans to utilize the PlayStation VR, but we’ll have to wait until the game is released on January 24th, 2017 to find out where a new

During E3 2017, Nintendo’s conference presents a new chapter for one its popular game series – SuperMario Odyssey.
If gamers want to take a break from the dark and cinematic action adventure games, Nintendo’s upcoming game provides players the opportunity to have fun in the world of Super Mario. Not only does the gameplay feel similar to the classic Super Mario 64 with its free roaming exploration, but also, Nintendo adds more features to the game. Instead of jumping on the heads of Goombas and Koopa Troopas, Mario has a magic hat that when thrown on an enemy, a creature, or an object, Mario will inherit those powers and appearances. From stomping around as a T-Rex to flying as a Bullet Bill, the possibilities are endless in the game’s open world environment.
In addition to the throwing hat ability, co-operative gameplay allows a second player to become the hat and provides cover from multiple enemies and can find extra powers for the other player. While there is no mention of a storymode or a campaign, Super Mario Odyssey follows in the footsteps of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild where it is important for the players to explore a variety of locations at their own leisure.
Super Mario Odyssey is planned for on October 7. The game will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
Sony Entertainment and Insomniac Games swing on by at E3 2017 with another action-adventure game to add to the list of upcoming titles- Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Similar to the style of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series, players take control of Spider-Man in an open world setting of New York City. Players utilize parkour and web-shooters to maneuver around buildings and stop criminals in their tracks ranging from hand-to-hand combat to slinging nearby objects towards enemies. After acquiring the titular character’s license, Insomnia Games is proud to present it’s own take on Spider-Man’s lore.
With the arrival of Marvel’sSpider-Man: Homecoming on July 7, Sony took the opportunity to promote the game in relation to the film’s upcoming release. However, the game will not be a shot-for-shot recreation of the film. Instead, the story focuses on Spider-Man’s battle against the Inner Demons and their leader, the mysterious Mr. Negative. Aside from The Kingpin, there are no signs of other villains from Spider-Man’s rogue’s gallery. Let’s hope that Insomnia Games will present us with their interpretation of Spider-Man’s greatest villains.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is planned to be released around the first quarter of 2018 for PlayStation 4.
Metro: Exodus was premiered at Xbox’s E3 Press Conference yesterday, and the hype train is already in full effect regarding this apocalyptic sandbox survival horror. Based on the novels Metro 2033 and Metro 2035 by Dmitry Glukhovsky, this newest addition to the Metro series will take gamers to new extremes as they try to survive post-apocalypse Russia.
Metro: Exodus will be coming to the Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 sometime in 2018, so gamers unfortunately have a while to wait before getting their hands on this ambitious title. This game will feature a complete open world that was absent in previous titles in this series. Footage from the trailer shows the Player-Character wading through a ruined tunnel filled with skeletons until finally emerging in the beautiful open world.
Gameplay seems to be revolved around survival, and survival in post-apocalypse Russia is no easy task. The Player-Character must be handy with knives and a crossbow if they want a chance to survive the mutated creatures that viciously hunt them. The gorgeous visuals will likely stun and inspire fear for even the most hardened of gamers.
Metro: Exodus will feature visual enhancements on the unveiled Xbox One X. With 4k graphics, the X will allow players to experience a more immersive and thrilling apocalyptic-survival experience then ever before.
