In Okami, players assume the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddes, in the form of a white wolf on an epic journey to restore a world, reduced to ruin by the evil demon, Orochi. The game is well loved by critics and players for its visual language heavily based on Sumi-e ink painting.
Okami was originally released on the PlayStation 2 in 2007 by Clover Studios and re-released on Wii in 2008, a year after Clover Studios was dissolved. The game was then remastered for a release for the PS3 under the name Okami HD by developers Ready At Dawn and Hexadrive.
